TRANS TAPE MANUAL
Key Points to Know
1
Clean your body. Trans tape won’t stick well if your skin is not absolutely clear of oils. This also means that you shouldn’t use a moisturizer or even moisturizing body wash.
2
Cover your nipples with our adhesive nipple guards before applying.
3
Use scissors to round the edges of each rectangle. This help distribute the pressure beyond just the four pointed counters and prevent peeling off.
4
Keep both edges of the trans tape slack when applying. Make sure each piece begins and ends with skin contact.
5
Use pieces of tape as anchors at the ends of each strip if necessary. Our XS-size trans tape with a 5cm width and a cheaper price is a perfect option.
6
In most cases, it doesn’t stick well immediately, so don’t mess with it. Experiment with your own body and what angles of tape application work best.
Avoid adjusting the tape too much, as removing it from your skin can cause it to lose its adhesion.
7
When the ends of the tape start to peel off, please cut off the ends that aren’t sticking anymore and then put more tape to stick it back down.
8
Cover it with oil or isopropyl alcohol for removal if necessary.
Trans Tape FAQ
Is it waterproof? Can I swim with it?
We won't claim that our tape is waterproof like other brands, as contact with water or sweat on your body can promote bacterial growth, increasing the risk of skin allergies and reducing the tape's durability. Our priority is to keep your skin safe from harm, so we advise against prolonged exposure to moisture.
However, you can take a shower with it. Our tape is suitable for swimming. To ensure the best results, we recommend applying the tape ahead of time and keeping it dry for 12-24 hours before swimming. And make sure it’s not coming unstuck at the edges before swimming. Please replace it immediately after swimming. Replace the tape promptly after swimming, as seawater and pool water contain a lot of bacteria. If not replaced in time, it can lead to allergies and other skin problems.
What could be the reasons for my trans tape peeling off?
Incorrect application: Trans tape requires proper application for it to adhere effectively. If it is not applied correctly, the tape may not stick well and may start peeling off. Ensure that you follow the instructions above and watch tutorials or seek guidance from experienced users if needed.
Body oil or sweat: The adhesive properties of trans tape can be affected by body oils or excessive sweating. If your skin is oily or if you perspire heavily, it may cause the tape to lose its stickiness and come off.
Poor skin preparation: Proper skin preparation is essential before applying trans tape. Make sure the area is clean, dry, and free from lotions, oils, or other substances that could interfere with the adhesive. Cleanse the skin thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before applying the tape.
Allergic reaction: In some cases, individuals may have an allergic reaction to the adhesive used in trans tape, which can cause irritation, redness, or discomfort.
Tension and movement: Depending on your body movements, the tape may experience tension and stress, which can cause it to peel off. Engaging in activities that involve a lot of movement, excessive stretching, or sweating can increase the likelihood of the tape coming loose.
What size should I order?
There is no size for trans tape. The only difference is the width. For those with large chests, we recommend buying 5-inch tapes. If your chests are not very large, all widths are applicable.
In addition, the small-width tape can be used for edge repair. When the ends of the tape start to peel off, you can cut off the ends that aren’t sticking anymore and then put more tape with a small-width to stick it back down.
Can I work out in trans tape?
You can wear it to work out or even swim but avoid specific chest exercises such as chest fly as it can blister your skin. Don’t work out for a few hours after applying it.
Can I use it under a binder?
The binder rubs against the tape actually caused the tape to peel a bit more than if you had just been wearing the tape, so we wouldn’t recommend it.
Trans tape or binder?
Trans tape works well if someone has a smaller chest or if he doesn’t mind it looking like pecs and not completely flat. Binders look better, but trans tape is really good for the days you’re not going out, so you can give your ribs a break. Chest tape is also more discreet than a binder as it does not cover the back, chest, or shoulders and is not visible under your garments.
There is no answer as to which of them is better. Through continuous practice and adaptation, you will clearly understand which one your body needs on specific occasions
The most important aspect when we bind is taking good care of ourselves and listening to our bodies.
What if I am allergic to trans tape?
Apparently, a contact allergy to tape is not uncommon. But you also need to know that most tapes use the same materials. The only difference is the adhesive glue that contacts with your skin. Everyone’s skin reacts differently to the same glue, and no one can guarantee that you won’t be allergic to it.
So you should accept it and try to adjust the usage time. If it is exposed to water, please remember to let it dry or replace it with a new one as soon as possible. This ensures that the skin covered by the tape will not cause allergies.
At the same time, every time you apply a new tape, please remember to use the correct method to remove the old one and the residue on the skin surface. If necessary, you can use some auxiliary oil or isopropyl alcohol to remove it. Clean and dry your skin before applying a new tape.
It’s important to follow the our instructions for application and removal of the tape, and to be careful not to leave it on for too long or use it on irritated or broken skin.
All in all, you need to adjust and learn according to your own situation constantly. Just like the transition, this is a process of feeling the changes in our body.
How long can I wear a trans tape?
We’d say use it as long as your skin feels fine. Once it gets itchy, it’s time to get it off before any blisters form. If you’re less sweaty and don’t have super sensitive skin, a couple of days or a week should be fine. Just listen to what your skin tells you.
You can change it every few days. It’s best to allow your skin to breathe for a while before reapplying.
